American Airlines Launches New Flagship Suite on Boeing 787-9

American Airlines is taking their premium cabin experience to the next level just in time for the summer travel season. As other airlines are doing (Korean Air, Cathay, Iberia, etc.) American has officially announced the launch of its newly redesigned Flagship Suite seats aboard the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with tickets going on sale this week.

The first international flight featuring the new suites will depart on June 5, operating between Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and London Heathrow (LHR). The rollout will continue with additional routes through the summer and fall.

What to Expect in the Flagship Suite

American’s Flagship Suite product is a leap forward in long-haul business class design. Each suite features:

• Fully enclosed privacy doors
• A lie-flat seat that transforms into a chaise lounge

• Additional personal storage
• An adjustable headrest pillow

These upgrades mark a 50% increase in lie-flat and premium economy seating across the American Airlines fleet by 2030.

Aircraft Expansion and Future Rollout

American has already welcomed two new Boeing 787-9 aircraft at its Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) hub and plans to integrate 30 new Dreamliners into its fleet by 2029.

The Flagship Suite experience will also expand to upcoming Airbus A321XLR aircraft and retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER planes, reinforcing American’s investment in premium long-haul travel.
