SAS EuroBonus and Scandic Friends members can link their accounts, match status, and exchange points between the two programs. You can also earn EuroBonus Bonus Points and Level Points when you book eligible Scandic stays through SAS.
These are three separate benefits, and it is easy to mix them up:
- A status match gives you a membership level in the other program. It does not give you Level Points.
- A points exchange moves redeemable points between the programs. It does not help you qualify for status.
- An eligible Scandic booking through SAS can earn real EuroBonus Level Points.
Here is how each part works under the current rules.

How to Link Your Accounts
You need an active account in both programs. You must have been a member of at least one of them for 30 days before you can link them.
- Open the SAS and Scandic partnership page while logged in to EuroBonus.
- Sign in to your Scandic Friends account, or create one if needed.
- Accept the account linking terms.
- If you qualify for a match, your higher membership level will be applied to the other program.
Your first name, last name, email address, mobile number, and date of birth must match in both profiles. Members must be at least 18 years old. One EuroBonus account can only be linked to one Scandic Friends account, and the same rule applies in the other direction.
If you unlink the accounts, the linked benefits end. You must wait 30 days before linking them again.
How the Status Match Works
The current status mapping is:
From EuroBonus to Scandic Friends
| EuroBonus level | Matched Scandic Friends level |
|---|---|
| Silver | Level 4, Dear Friend |
| Gold | Level 5, Loyal Friend |
| Diamond | Level 6, True Friend |
From Scandic Friends to EuroBonus
| Scandic Friends level | Matched EuroBonus level |
|---|---|
| Level 4, Dear Friend | Silver |
| Level 5, Loyal Friend | Gold |
| Level 6, True Friend | Diamond |
| Level 7, Best Friend | Diamond |
The safest way to plan around this benefit is to use a level for which you have met the requirements in one of the programs. SAS specifically states that Scandic Level 6 members must meet the current program requirements before they can match to EuroBonus Diamond.
There is also a special rule for some older Scandic members. When Scandic introduced its new program in 2024, some members received Level 6 as a transitional benefit without meeting the new Level 6 requirement. For status matching, that transitional Level 6 is treated as Level 5 and gives EuroBonus Gold. It only gives Diamond after the member qualifies for Level 6 under the current Scandic rules.
You can read the full details in the official account linking terms.

Does a Scandic Match Give You EuroBonus Level Points?
No. A match gives you the EuroBonus membership level directly. It does not deposit 20,000 Level Points for Silver, 45,000 for Gold, or 90,000 for Diamond.
This matters if you are working toward a higher level. For example, matching Scandic Level 4 to EuroBonus Silver does not put 20,000 Level Points in your EuroBonus account. You still start from your real Level Point balance when working toward Gold.
The two programs also do not combine their status points. Scandic qualifying points stay in Scandic Friends, and EuroBonus Level Points stay in EuroBonus.
How Much Scandic Spending Is Needed?
Scandic Friends uses qualifying points earned during your Scandic membership year. Under the current Scandic Friends terms, the important thresholds are:
| Scandic target | Qualifying points required | Approximate qualifying spend from Level 1 |
|---|---|---|
| Level 4, which matches to EuroBonus Silver | 25,000 | 12,500 kr excluding VAT |
| Level 5, which matches to EuroBonus Gold | 100,000 | 42,500 kr excluding VAT |
| Level 6, which matches to EuroBonus Diamond | 250,000 | 102,500 kr excluding VAT |
Members at Levels 1 to 3 earn 2 qualifying points per SEK, NOK, or DKK excluding VAT. Levels 4 and 5 earn 2.5 points per kr, while Levels 6 and 7 earn 3 points per kr.
The spending figures above are progressive minimums. They assume that you complete a qualifying stay, wait for the new level to post, and then earn at the higher rate on a later stay. Scandic does not upgrade your level during a stay. If you try to reach a level with one very large stay, you may need to spend more.
Only qualifying spending counts. Discounts, vouchers, VAT, and the portion paid with Scandic points do not earn qualifying points. Most direct Scandic rates qualify, but some special rates and bookings through services such as Booking.com or Hotels.com do not. Check the rate before booking.
Earn EuroBonus Level Points From Scandic Stays
There is another Scandic route that is separate from status matching.
Eligible Scandic stays booked through the SAS Scandic booking page currently earn:
- 70 EuroBonus Bonus Points per 100 SEK, NOK, or DKK
- 35 EuroBonus Level Points per 100 SEK, NOK, or DKK
- The same rate per 10 EUR or 33 PLN
SAS describes this as a current offer and does not publish an end date. You must be logged in to EuroBonus when you book, pay with money rather than points, and complete the stay. The points arrive after the stay. If you book several rooms in one reservation, only one room earns EuroBonus points.
These are real EuroBonus Level Points. You can combine them with Level Points from credit cards, ChangeMakers, flights, and other eligible activity. This is different from a Scandic status match, which gives you status without adding Level Points.
If you also want Scandic Friends qualifying points, make sure your accounts are linked or enter your Scandic Friends number. SAS promises Scandic Friends rates and benefits through this booking path, but the public page does not explicitly promise that every available rate will earn full Scandic qualifying progress. Check the selected rate before relying on both types of earning.
Which Benefits Come With Matched Status?
A member matched to EuroBonus Silver receives the normal Silver benefits. Members matched to Gold or Diamond receive the normal level benefits except the benefit that lets them give status to another person.
Matched EuroBonus Gold or Diamond does not count toward EuroBonus Lifetime Gold. If you later meet the normal EuroBonus requirement for that level with Level Points or qualifying flights, the normal benefits and Lifetime Gold rules apply.
For example, a qualifying Scandic Level 6 matches to EuroBonus Diamond and gives SkyTeam Elite Plus benefits, including eligible lounge access and priority airport services. However, the matched Diamond member cannot give away EuroBonus status unless they have qualified for the relevant EuroBonus level under the normal rules.
In the other direction, EuroBonus Diamond matches to Scandic Level 6. Current Level 6 benefits include free breakfast, a room guarantee when booking at least 48 hours in advance, a restaurant voucher or extra points for eligible stays, and a higher Scandic point earning rate. Check the current Scandic benefit list because hotel exceptions can apply.
Exchange Points Between the Programs
Points exchange is now live. The conversion rate is:
- 1 EuroBonus Bonus Point becomes 2 Scandic Friends points
- 2 Scandic Friends points become 1 EuroBonus Bonus Point
There is no exchange fee, and transfers normally take a few minutes. You can only convert an even number of Scandic Friends points.
Only redeemable points can move between the programs. EuroBonus Level Points and Scandic qualifying progress cannot be exchanged or combined. Moving points between SAS and Scandic also does not increase your SAS Mastercard Fly Premium level.
Exchanged points keep their original expiration date or receive an expiration date 12 months after the exchange, whichever comes first. A transfer is final, but you can send the points back in a new transaction without a fee. Sending them back does not restore a longer original expiration date.
Members of a EuroBonus Point Sharing group can exchange points if the group owner has given them permission to use the shared points.
What Happens When Your Status Changes?
The matched status follows the expiration date of the higher status that produced the match.
- If Scandic Friends status gives you a higher EuroBonus level, EuroBonus should update automatically when the Scandic level upgrades or renews.
- If EuroBonus status gives you a higher Scandic Friends level, you may initially need to request a new match when the EuroBonus level upgrades or renews.
- If the original status is downgraded, the matched status will also be adjusted unless you have qualified for that level independently in the second program.
- EuroBonus soft landing rules still apply. If a soft landing comes from a Scandic match, the new EuroBonus level has a 12 month expiration.
If you qualify for the matched level independently during this period, the normal qualification and expiration rules of that program take over.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I combine Scandic qualifying points and EuroBonus Level Points?
No. Each program tracks status qualification separately. A status match grants a level but does not move the points used to qualify for it.
Will matched EuroBonus Gold count toward Lifetime Gold?
No. Gold or Diamond received through the Scandic match does not count. If you later qualify under the normal EuroBonus rules with 45,000 Level Points or 45 qualifying flights, that qualification follows the normal Lifetime Gold rules.
How long will my matched status last?
The expiration date comes from the higher status that produced the match. If that original status expires or is downgraded, the matched status can also change.
Does Scandic Level 6 always give EuroBonus Diamond?
No. A Level 6 granted as part of Scandic’s 2024 program transition is treated as Level 5 for matching unless the member has since met the current Level 6 requirements. In that case it gives EuroBonus Gold, not Diamond.
Can I exchange Level Points?
No. You can only exchange redeemable EuroBonus Bonus Points and Scandic Friends points. EuroBonus Level Points and Scandic qualifying progress cannot be transferred.
Can I reverse a points exchange?
The original transaction cannot be cancelled. You can exchange the points back in a new transaction without a fee, but their previous expiration date will not be restored.
