What is the British Airways Club?
The new British Airways Club, formerly known as the British Airways Executive Club, is the loyalty program of British Airways. Effective April 1, 2025, the program underwent significant changes, including a rebranding and an overhaul of its tier points system. Members can earn Avios points through flights, partner airlines, and various other activities, which can then be redeemed for flights, upgrades, and other rewards. The program features different membership tiers: Blue, Bronze, Silver, and Gold, each offering progressively more benefits such as priority boarding, lounge access, and increased Avios accrual.
What's new with British Airways Club in 2026?
- Program Now Fully Live: The British Airways Club (formerly Executive Club) launched April 1, 2025. The spend-based tier point system is now the standard — members earn 1 tier point per £1 of eligible spend (base fare + carrier charges, excluding taxes and fees).
- Tier Thresholds:
- Bronze: 3,500 tier points
- Silver: 7,500 tier points
- Gold: 20,000 tier points
- Earn Tier Points Beyond Flights: Points can now be earned via British Airways Holidays packages, extra baggage purchases, advance seat selection, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) contributions.
- Status via Flight Count: Members can also retain Bronze (25 BA flights/year) or Silver (50 BA flights/year) status purely through flight frequency — no spend needed.
- Amex Tier Points: British Airways American Express Premium Plus cardholders can earn up to 2,500 tier points annually through card spending, providing a ground-based path to status.
- Avios Earning on Partners: Earning rates on oneworld and partner airlines remain unchanged. Qatar Airways, Iberia, and American Airlines flights all continue to generate Avios at standard rates.

How much are British Airways Avios worth?
The estimated average value of a British Airways Avios is between 1.2 and 1.8 cents (USD) per point, although in some cases it can exceed 2 cents. The value varies depending on the flight distance, class of service, operating airline, and whether the redemption is made during the low season. The best value is found by pre-booking long-haul Business Class flights with partner airlines such as Qatar Airways or Iberia. The worst value is usually found on short flights operated by British Airways with high surcharges or when using Avios for partial discounts without promotions.
