Iberia (IB) is the flagship carrier of Spain and a prominent member of the oneworld alliance, offering comprehensive connectivity through its extensive network of global partners. Major intercontinental destinations include cities in Latin America like Buenos Aires, Mexico City, and São Paulo, as well as key North American cities such as New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. In 2024, Iberia achieved several significant milestones. The airline received its first Airbus A321XLR, becoming the global launch customer for this aircraft model. This new addition to the fleet is designed for long-haul flights and offers enhanced fuel efficiency, consuming 30% less fuel per seat compared to previous-generation aircraft. Additionally, Iberia resumed flights to Tokyo's Narita International Airport in October 2024, strengthening its presence in Asia. The airline also set a new passenger record, carrying nearly 31 million passengers in 2024.
Looking ahead to 2025, Iberia has announced plans to relaunch its Air Shuttle service between Madrid and Barcelona, introducing two new fare options to enhance flexibility for passengers. Furthermore, the airline has been recognized for its operational excellence, ranking as the 16th safest airline in the world for 2025.
