Find Velocity reward seats

Have Velocity Points and a trip in mind? Start with a Velocity award search, then compare dates, cabins and airlines. You can search Virgin Australia and partners such as Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways and United through Velocity, without changing the program you use to pay.

The key distinction is Reward Seat versus Any Seat. Reward Seats have limited availability and their own points pricing. Any Seats use the cash fare to calculate the points required. A flight being on sale does not mean a Reward Seat is available.

Three searches to try with Velocity Points

These are starting points for your trip, with no fixed travel dates. Sign in with an AwardFares Gold or Diamond plan to use the airline, cabin and Saver filters in these links.

• Virgin Australia within Australia: Sydney to Melbourne in Economy. Start with Saver enabled to focus on Reward Seats. Compare nearby dates and departure times before spending more points on an Any Seat.
• Singapore Airlines to Singapore: Sydney or Melbourne to Singapore in Business Class. Comparing both departure airports gives you another option when your preferred flight has no seats. Include the cost of getting to the other airport in your decision.
• United to the United States: Sydney to Los Angeles or San Francisco in Business Class. Keep Velocity selected to see seats offered through Velocity. United may offer different availability to its own members.

If you need a connection beyond one of these cities, search your complete route as well. Finding two separate flights does not confirm that they can be booked together at the same total price.

How many Velocity Points do you need for a flight?

Velocity publishes Reward Seat points tables. The relevant table depends on the airline, distance and cabin, and some categories have a range of prices.

For example, the domestic table checked on September 4, 2026 lists Sydney to Melbourne at 5,900 to 12,900 points in Economy or 15,500 points in Business, each way, plus taxes, fees and carrier charges. These are published Reward Seat values, not a quote for a particular date.

For partner flights, check the table for that airline and compare the total cash charges too. A lower points price can be less appealing once you add fees or a separate positioning flight.

Search, track and book

1. Choose Velocity and your route. Add the dates you can travel. You can include several airports when your plans are flexible.
2. Narrow the results. Select your cabin and number of travelers. Use the Saver filter when you want Reward Seats, and inspect the cabin on each flight in a connection.
3. Track the trip. Gold and Diamond include live searches and alerts. Create an alert for your route, dates and cabin if you do not find a suitable option.
4. Complete the booking with Virgin Australia. Confirm the seats for everyone traveling, the points total and cash charges before paying or transferring points.

Questions about Velocity award flights

Can AwardFares search every Velocity partner?

Some partners require a phone call to Velocity. Its current partner list separates online redemptions from bookings by phone. Contact Velocity for Virgin Atlantic, South African Airways, Hainan Airlines and Capital Airlines awards. Do not treat an empty online search as proof that a phone booking is unavailable.

Is there a best day to find reward seats?

There is no single release day that guarantees seats across Virgin Australia and its partners. Search across dates you can use, then track the route. A booking window tells you how far ahead you can search, not whether an airline will release seats in your cabin.

Do Velocity Points expire?

Yes. Check the expiry date in your Velocity account. Under the current points expiry rules, qualifying activities can extend validity, but family transfers and Family Pooling follow different rules. Do not assume every transaction resets the balance for two years.
