Information about Asiana Airlines

Asiana Airlines (OZ) is a leading South Korean airline, recently undergoing significant changes following its acquisition by Korean Air in December 2024. Korean Air now holds a 63.88% stake in Asiana, creating one of the largest airline mergers in South Korean aviation history.

Korean Air and Asiana Airlines Merger

Following the acquisition, Asiana Airlines continues to operate as a subsidiary of Korean Air, with complete brand integration expected by 2027. This strategic merger enhances their combined global presence, positioning them among the world's largest airlines and offering passengers greater convenience, improved connectivity, and enhanced competitiveness on international routes.

Primary Hubs and Popular Routes

Incheon International Airport (ICN) in Seoul remains Asiana’s primary operational hub, supported by extensive flight operations at Gimpo International Airport (GMP) and Gimhae International Airport (PUS). Asiana Airlines maintains a comprehensive flight network throughout Asia, regularly serving popular destinations such as Tokyo, Beijing, and Hong Kong.

Additionally, Asiana continues offering long-haul flights connecting South Korea with major cities in North America and Europe, including Los Angeles, New York, Frankfurt, and London.

New Route: Prague to Seoul-Incheon

In April 2025, Asiana Airlines is launching a new direct service between Prague (PRG) and Seoul-Incheon (ICN), operating three flights per week. This new route significantly expands Asiana's European network, providing travelers with additional convenient options for travel between Europe and Asia.

Airline Alliance Realignment

Due to the merger, Asiana Airlines will transition from the Star Alliance to the SkyTeam alliance, aligning with Korean Air’s existing membership. This realignment promises a smoother passenger experience, increased route options, and improved benefits for frequent flyers across the combined airline networks.

Despite these changes, Asiana Airlines continues its longstanding commitment to excellence in customer service, safety, and reliability. The integration with Korean Air aims to deliver a seamless, flexible, and enhanced travel experience, combining the strengths of two renowned airlines. Travelers can look forward to even greater convenience, connectivity, and travel rewards as Asiana and Korean Air continue integrating their operations.
