JetBlue BlueFirst: New Domestic First Class Launches in 2026

JetBlue’s domestic First Class finally has a name. BlueFirst will be available to book this fall, and the first aircraft will enter service later in 2026.

We first covered this plan in 2024, when it was often called “Mini Mint”. JetBlue had not announced a public name at the time. Now we know what the seat looks like, what food will be served, and which airport benefits are included.

BlueFirst will be used in markets that do not have JetBlue Mint. It is a domestic First Class recliner, not a lie flat seat. JetBlue has not yet announced the first routes, the exact start date, opening fares, or the benefits Mosaic members will receive.

For points travelers, the open questions are just as important as the seat. This guide covers the product and fare choices, then shows how to track the first BlueFirst routes, award prices, and aircraft with AwardFares.

What Is JetBlue BlueFirst?

BlueFirst sits between JetBlue’s extra legroom Economy product, EvenMore, and its lie flat Business Class product, Mint.

On JetBlue flights without Mint, the roomiest option is usually EvenMore. It gives you extra legroom but keeps the same type of Economy seat. BlueFirst adds a wider recliner in the first few rows, a meal on longer flights, and more airport benefits.

BlueFirst does not replace Mint. It gives JetBlue a proper First Class cabin on routes where it does not offer lie flat seats.

The BlueFirst Seat

The seat is arranged in a 2 by 2 layout, with no middle seat. JetBlue says it provides up to seven inches of extra legroom compared with its Main seats and up to five inches of recline.

The seat cushion uses Tuft & Needle T&N Flex foam. It is designed to adjust to the passenger and reduce pressure during the flight. JetBlue has not published one exact seat pitch because the available space can vary by aircraft.

Every BlueFirst seat also includes:

• A 13.3 inch seatback screen
• Bluetooth audio for personal wireless headphones
• JetBlue’s Blueprint entertainment platform
• Free high speed internet
• A 110 volt power outlet
• USB A and USB C charging

Customers on overnight flights will also receive a blanket and a small sleep kit.

This is still a recliner. It will not turn into a flat bed, and there is no privacy door. We like that JetBlue is keeping the Mint name for its lie flat cabin instead of using it for two very different seats.

FirstFare Meals and Seatback Ordering

BlueFirst introduces a meal service called FirstFare. On flights of 899 miles or more, passengers receive a bento inspired box with an entrée, side, and dessert. JetBlue says the menu will change with the time of day and direction of travel. Early examples include sweet or savory crepes and sesame noodles with beef or tofu.

Premium snacks will be available on all BlueFirst flights, including shorter trips that do not receive a full meal. The drinks list includes wine selected by Parcelle, coffee from Cometeer and Joe Coffee, and tea from Smith Teamaker.

The more unusual feature is seatback ordering. Passengers will be able to choose meals and drinks from the screen. A Mixologist Mode lets you build a cocktail by choosing a spirit, mixer, and flavor. The order is then sent to the cabin crew.

BlueFirst Fares, Bags, and Priority Benefits

JetBlue lists the following airport and fare benefits for BlueFirst customers:

• Group 1 boarding
• Dedicated overhead bin space
• Priority check in
• Access to an expedited security lane at more than 30 airports
• Two free checked bags on eligible BlueFirst fares
• Priority baggage delivery
• No change or cancel fees on BlueFirst and BlueFirst Flex fares

Two checked bags could be one of the most useful benefits for many travelers. However, JetBlue also notes that BlueFirst Base benefits may vary. Check the fare rules before booking, especially for baggage, changes, and cancellations.

JetBlue has also introduced a new Base, Standard, and Flex fare structure. BlueFirst will use all three options:

The fare changes what happens on the ground, not the BlueFirst seat or onboard service. BlueFirst Base may cost less, but it earns fewer base points and gives up advance seat selection and flexibility. JetBlue has not yet published every BlueFirst Base baggage detail.

BlueHouse lounge access is not listed as a standard BlueFirst benefit. JetBlue has not announced complimentary BlueFirst upgrades for Mosaic members either. The airline says it will share more closer to launch. For now, there is no reason to assume that Move to Mint certificates or other Mosaic perks will work with BlueFirst.

When Will BlueFirst Launch?

The current schedule is broad:

• Booking opens: Fall 2026
• First flights: Later in 2026
• First routes: Not announced yet

JetBlue says BlueFirst will eventually serve markets that do not currently have Mint. That could cover a large part of its domestic network, but the cabin will not appear everywhere at once.

The gradual rollout makes the aircraft schedule important. Even after JetBlue publishes the first routes, not every flight on that route will necessarily have BlueFirst. Can You Book BlueFirst With TrueBlue Points?

JetBlue has not published BlueFirst cash fares or TrueBlue award prices. It has also not confirmed how the new cabin will appear in the award search when sales open.

JetBlue operated awards normally use dynamic pricing, which means the number of TrueBlue points usually moves with the cash fare. We expect BlueFirst to follow the same general model, but we will only know once the first flights go on sale.

The same caution applies to United MileagePlus. The Blue Sky partnership allows selected JetBlue flights to be booked through United, but JetBlue has not said whether BlueFirst seats will be available through MileagePlus at launch.

Track BlueFirst Routes and Award Seats With AwardFares

BlueFirst is not bookable yet, so there is no final route or points list to copy. The practical approach is to watch the rollout as JetBlue loads new flights and award prices.

AwardFares cabin filter: JetBlue calls BlueFirst a domestic First Class product, but it appears under Business Class in AwardFares. Choose Business Class when searching or creating an Alert for BlueFirst.

Find the First BlueFirst Routes

Start without choosing departure or arrival airports. The link below is filtered to JetBlue flights booked with TrueBlue points, with Business Class selected:

After JetBlue announces the first routes, add the airports and dates you want. A broad search is useful during a rollout because it does not require you to guess which route receives the new cabin first.

Compare TrueBlue Prices Across Dates

TrueBlue prices can change with the cash fare. Timeline View shows several weeks together, making it easier to see whether moving the trip by a few days reduces the points price.

If BlueFirst is too expensive when booking opens, create an Alert for the route and select Business Class as the cabin. AwardFares can keep checking while you wait for a lower price or another date.

Check the Aircraft Before Booking

During the rollout, a route may have BlueFirst on some flights but not others. Open the flight details and check the aircraft and seat map. The first rows should show the new 2 by 2 cabin. Check again before departure because airlines sometimes change aircraft.

Compare TrueBlue With MileagePlus

JetBlue has not confirmed whether BlueFirst will be available through United MileagePlus. If it does appear through the Blue Sky partnership, select both TrueBlue and MileagePlus in AwardFares. The same flight may have different availability or pricing in each program.

Do not transfer points based only on a Business Class result. Confirm that the flight has the BlueFirst cabin and compare the points price with the cash fare first.

Our Take

BlueFirst is not a new type of seat. It is a familiar domestic First Class recliner with better technology and a more interesting food and drink service. The Bluetooth screen, free internet, seatback ordering, and two checked bags make the overall package look good.

From an award travel perspective, the announcement is incomplete. The routes and points prices are more important than the product name. We also want to know whether Mosaic members can upgrade and whether United will receive any BlueFirst award space.
