What is JAL Mileage Bank?
JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) is the frequent flyer program of Japan Airlines, a member of the oneworld alliance. Members can earn and redeem miles on JAL flights, oneworld partners, and select non-alliance carriers. JMB is renowned for its premium cabin award availability, family-friendly redemption options, and a variety of earning opportunities through flights, credit cards, and everyday spending.
Key changes to JMB in 2025
- Award Chart Devaluation (Effective June 10, 2025): JAL is implementing significant increases in award pricing, particularly for premium cabins. First Class awards will see increases up to 80%, while Business and Premium Economy classes will also experience notable hikes.
- Introduction of Award Ticket PLUS: A new dynamic pricing model, Award Ticket PLUS, allows members to book award seats with additional miles when base award seats are unavailable. This model does not apply to First Class.
- Enhanced Security Measures: Starting April 10, 2025, a "One-Time Password" authentication system has been introduced for booking JAL domestic and international award tickets, enhancing account security.
- Upgrade Award Promotions: Between April 1 and August 31, 2025, members traveling on eligible routes using JAL International Upgrade Awards can receive bonus miles—5,000 for Premium Economy and 8,000 for Business Class upgrades.
- Extended Mileage Validity: Miles earned from January 2025 onwards will have an extended validity of five years, up from the previous three years. Additionally, members with higher status tiers may enjoy unlimited mileage validity.
