PointsYeah and AwardFares can both help you find award flights, but I use them for different jobs. I use AwardFares when the flights are the difficult part of the trip. I can compare supported loyalty programs on the same flight, check more dates and airports, create an alert, and save useful flights in one Journey.

PointsYeah combines live flight and hotel search with Daydream Explorer, several alert types, transfer information, Seat Maps, a points wallet, and a native iPhone app. Hotel awards are its clearest advantage over AwardFares.

For my own trips, I prefer AwardFares for finding and organizing the flights. PointsYeah also searches hotel awards, which AwardFares does not. This guide explains what each product does, where they differ, and how I use AwardFares when a trip takes more than one search.

What AwardFares Does

AwardFares Search keeps the supported loyalty program options attached to each award flight. Depending on the program, a result can show the cabin, mileage price, taxes, number of seats, booking program, and freshness. This lets me compare ways to book without losing the itinerary behind the numbers.

AwardFares groups the available booking programs beneath the flight, so mileage prices and seat quantities can be evaluated together.

The main AwardFares tools cover the work before and after that comparison:

• Search accepts multiple dates, airports, metro areas, supported loyalty programs, and connecting flights.
• Timeline View compares a route across several dates, while Broad Search is useful when the country, continent, or award zone matters more than the exact destination.
• Live Alerts and Flex Alerts cover fixed and flexible monitoring needs with different methods.
• Journey Planner collects flights from separate searches into named trips that I can share.
• Flight Schedules add operating days, times, aircraft, stops, and booking class information where supplied.
• Seat Maps show the cabin layout and the airline’s seat assignment statuses for a flight.
• Award Release Dates provide a reference for airline and loyalty program booking windows.

For example, when the same Air France flight appears through several supported programs, I can compare the program rows, inspect the itinerary, and save the flight to the same Journey.

The free Basic plan previews existing availability. Gold and Diamond add live Search, Alerts, Journey Planner, and Flight Schedules. Current program support, prices, and usage limits are listed below.

What PointsYeah Does

PointsYeah brings award flight search, hotel search, discovery, alerts, Seat Maps, and points balance tracking into one account.

PointsYeah currently lists more than 20 airline programs and more than 10 hotel programs. The exact coverage changes, so check the current PointsYeah program list before choosing a plan.

Live Search

Live Search begins with an origin, destination, travel window, and passenger details. Results can be filtered by cabin, stops, points, taxes, airline program, and transferable bank program.

Transfer information appears inside the results. PointsYeah can identify the airline program used for a redemption, filter by bank program, and include an active transfer bonus in the displayed calculation. Current plan limits are available in the membership comparison.

Daydream Explorer

Daydream Explorer begins with possibilities rather than one fixed trip. A user can choose broad regions or “Anywhere,” switch between map and list views, explore flights and hotels, and filter by points, taxes, cabin, stops, program, or trip style. Its cards show when they were updated and lead to a live search for checking a selected idea.

Points Price Alerts and Explorer Alerts

Points Price Alerts watch a defined flight request. They can react when the points price changes or when new availability appears below the maximum set by the user. Dates, passenger count, cabin, programs, and other filters can shape the alert.

Explorer Alerts are part of Daydream instead. They match broader discovery criteria against routes covered by Explorer and deliver matches by email and inside the product.

Hotels, Seat Maps, Upgrades, and Wallet

PointsYeah’s hotel product compares supported hotel award prices with cash prices. Hotels also appear as ideas in Daydream, and Hotel Alerts can monitor a chosen stay. AwardFares does not search hotels.

For flight seating, PointsYeah offers live Seat Maps plus Seat Alerts for a preferred seat or seating arrangement after booking. Premium also includes United Upgrade Alerts for eligible flights operated by United. These alerts monitor seat assignments or upgrade inventory, not award ticket inventory.

PointsYeah Wallet records balances across bank, airline, and hotel accounts. Manual entry is available without Premium. Premium adds automatic updates for selected accounts and up to four family accounts.

Starting With Flexible Possibilities

Daydream is useful when the destination is undecided. Regions, “Anywhere,” maps, hotel ideas, and theme filters can turn a points balance into a shortlist. Each card has an updated time and can lead into Live Search when the trip becomes specific.

PointsYeah Premium also searches several airports. With a four day window, it can search up to three departure and three arrival airports. With an eight day window, it can search up to three airports on one side and one on the other.

Broad Search is the starting point when the destination is flexible; a regular Search checks the specific flight and program options.

Comparing a Flight Before Choosing the Points

PointsYeah Live Search supplies useful filters and redemption information for a specific request. Program and bank filters, mileage prices, taxes, and transfer bonus calculations help compare the booking options.

Flight Details keeps the itinerary and the supported loyalty program options in one view.

A Real Example: American Business Class for 60,000 Miles

I used AwardFares to check the dates around my trip from New York to Buenos Aires. One of those dates showed American Business Class for 60,000 AAdvantage miles plus about $100. Nearby dates cost more because American prices its own awards dynamically.

This is why I do not stop after one search. I compare the nearby days first. If the price I want is missing, I create an alert and wait instead of repeating the search every day. The American 777 Business Class trip report shows the flight I found and later flew.

I booked this seat for 60,000 AAdvantage miles after comparing the dates around my trip.

Keeping Watch When No Result Works Yet

PointsYeah divides monitoring by subject. Points Price Alerts watch a defined flight need; Explorer Alerts follow broader Daydream criteria; Hotel Alerts watch stays; Seat Alerts watch seat assignments; and United Upgrade Alerts cover an eligible upgrade use case.

The setup screen separates the two alert models before the route and flexibility criteria are entered.

Managing the Trip After Discovery

PointsYeah keeps flight searches, hotel searches, inspiration, and balances under the same account. That is useful when a hotel redemption is part of the decision. It does not currently list a tool for collecting flights from separate searches and arranging them into one itinerary.

Seat Maps and Seat Alerts help after booking in PointsYeah. A seat map shows assignments, not award inventory or the real number of passengers on the flight.

Journey Planner turns useful results from separate searches into one proposed itinerary.

Seat Maps help me study the cabin and possible seat choices. They do not measure award inventory or flight occupancy.

Plans, Prices, and Access

The prices and allowances below were reviewed in August 2026. Regional pricing, taxes, promotions, and product limits can change, so review the current checkout terms before subscribing.

At standard prices, AwardFares has the lower paid entry tier. Gold costs $9.99 per month or $99 per year. PointsYeah Premium on the web costs $19.99 per month or $119.95 per year. PointsYeah also runs promotions for new members, so its checkout price can be lower.

AwardFares

• Basic is free. It provides a limited preview of existing availability for one program and includes five Seat Map lookups per month. It does not include live Search, Live or Flex Alerts, Journey Planner, or Flight Schedules.
• Gold costs $9.99 per month or $99 per year. It includes 100 Live Searches per day, 30 Live Alerts, 100 Flex Alerts, two programs per simultaneous search, Journey Planner, Flight Schedules, and 30 Seat Map lookups per month.
• Diamond costs $19.99 per month or $199 per year. It includes unlimited Live Searches and Flex Alerts subject to controls that prevent abuse, 500 Live Alerts, five programs per simultaneous search, Journey Planner, Flight Schedules, and 200 Seat Map lookups per month.
• AwardFares supports 17 searchable loyalty programs. Because the list evolves, use the program directory for the latest support.
• The paid trial is separate from Basic. The pricing page currently advertises 24 hours of Gold or Diamond access for eligible new customers. It requires a payment method and begins billing unless canceled.

PointsYeah

• Free includes unlimited flight Live Search across up to four days using one origin and one destination. It also includes four Points Price Alerts, four Hotel Alerts, unlimited Explorer Alerts, hotel Live Search, Daydream, live Seat Maps, and manual Wallet balances.
• Premium on the web costs $19.99 per month or $119.95 per year before promotions. It expands flight searches to up to eight days and includes 32 Points Price Alerts, 30 Hotel Alerts, eligible United Upgrade Alerts, and automatic updates for supported Wallet accounts.
• Airport access varies with the date range. Premium can search two departure and two arrival airports across eight days. It can use up to three on both sides across four days, or three on one side and one on the other across eight days.
• Premium Wallet includes family accounts. It can combine the subscriber’s balances with up to four family accounts.
• The iPhone subscription has separate pricing. In August 2026, Premium cost $24.99 per month or $149 per year in the US App Store. Other countries can have different prices.

Which One Should You Use?

I choose AwardFares when the flights require more than one search. I can change the dates, airports, and programs without losing the useful flights I have already found.

PointsYeah includes hotel award search, Daydream flight and hotel discovery, a native iPhone app, and automatic Wallet updates. AwardFares has no direct equivalent for those hotel features.

I still choose AwardFares for the flights because the search and the work that follows stay together. Before starting, check that the loyalty programs you use are supported.
